Je n\u2019arrivais plus \u00e0 dormir suffisamment. J\u2019avais tellement peur. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">L\u2019\u00e9tat de Mariama s\u2019aggravait au fur et \u00e0 mesure qu\u2019elle grandissait, et sa m\u00e8re craignait qu\u2019elle ne soit de plus en plus isol\u00e9e. data-contrast=\"auto\">Sifaye, maman de quatre enfants, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9\u202f: <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab\u202f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">L\u2019\u00e9cole est si loin, c\u2019est pour \u00e7a que je ne l\u2019ai pas envoy\u00e9e l\u00e0-bas. Parce qu\u2019elle ne peut pas parcourir de grandes distances sans se plaindre d\u2019\u00eatre fatigu\u00e9e.\u00a0 Si elle \u00e9tait all\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole, elle n\u2019aurait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 capable de rentrer \u00e0 la maison. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sa famille s\u2019est vraiment d\u00e9men\u00e9e pour chercher un rem\u00e8de pendant l\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante mais n\u2019a rien trouv\u00e9.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sa m\u00e8re raconte : <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Durant cette p\u00e9riode, nous avons essay\u00e9 tous les m\u00e9dicaments possibles, mais \u00e7a n\u2019a rien chang\u00e9. Quand nous l\u2019avons emmen\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00f4pital, ils nous ont dit qu\u2019il n\u2019\u00e9tait pas possible de la gu\u00e9rir. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On leur a dit que ses jambes continueraient probablement de se courber pour le reste de sa vie.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Un an plus tard, dans un village \u00e0 deux heures de route, Mane, le fr\u00e8re de Sifaye, a entendu parler de Mercy Ships, organisation caritative internationale qui exploite deux navires-h\u00f4pitaux fournissant des op\u00e9rations chirurgicales gratuites \u00e0 ceux qui ne disposent que d\u2019un acc\u00e8s tr\u00e8s limit\u00e9 \u00e0 des soins m\u00e9dicaux fiables. J\u2019ai souhait\u00e9 qu\u2019il en soit de m\u00eame pour ma ni\u00e8ce. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Il en a imm\u00e9diatement parl\u00e9 \u00e0 sa s\u0153ur.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Malgr\u00e9 le fait que Sifaye \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s anxieuse et qu\u2019elle n\u2019\u00e9tait jamais all\u00e9e<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00e0 plus de deux heures de route de son village natal, elle a voyag\u00e9 deux jours avec sa fille pour se rendre au port de Dakar, o\u00f9 le navire-h\u00f4pital l&rsquo;<em><span lang=\"fr\">Africa Mercy<\/span><span lang=\"fr\">\u00ae<\/span><\/em> \u00e9tait amarr\u00e9.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sifaye a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 : <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">J&rsquo;avais vraiment peur de l&#8217;emmener [Mariama] sur le bateau.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> \u00bb<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Elle raconte que les premiers jours ont \u00e9t\u00e9 marqu\u00e9s par un mal du pays constant, mais que l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe \u00e0 bord les avait rapidement mises \u00e0 l&rsquo;aise. Pour la premi\u00e8re fois, elles ont \u00e9galement rencontr\u00e9 des enfants souffrant de conditions similaires \u00e0 celle de Mariama.\u00a0<\/span><span comprenaient ce que je vivais, et c\u2019\u00e9tait bien pour Mariama de voir qu\u2019elle n\u2019\u00e9tait pas seule, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb <\/span><span
