Elle a avanc\u00e9 prudemment avant qu&rsquo;un sourire ne se dessine sur son visage. Ce n&rsquo;\u00e9tait qu&rsquo;un petit mouvement, mais pour la jeune femme de 18 ans, c&rsquo;\u00e9tait un pas vers la gu\u00e9rison.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 seulement 6 mois, Assiatou a \u00e9t\u00e9 impliqu\u00e9e dans un accident de voiture qui lui a provoqu\u00e9 de multiples br\u00fblures. Faute de moyens financiers, elle n&rsquo;a pas pu \u00eatre soign\u00e9e, et a d\u00fb grandir avec cet handicap.<\/p>\n<p>Avec le temps, ses br\u00fblures ont fini par former un \u00e9pais tissu cicatriciel. En grandissant, la peau de sa cheville gauche s\u2019est contract\u00e9e, ce qui l\u2019a emp\u00each\u00e9e de marcher correctement. Pas le choix\u2026 elle a du s\u2019adapter ! Pendant 18 ans, elle a march\u00e9 sur son talon gauche. Malgr\u00e9 sa\u00a0mobilit\u00e9 r\u00e9duite, elle parvenait \u00e0 se rendre \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole\u00a0\u00e0 pied, mais ses d\u00e9placements \u00e9taient tout aussi\u00a0douloureux\u00a0qu\u2019\u00e9puisants.<\/p>\n<p>Pour Assiatou, sortir de chez elle signifie s\u2019exposer aux\u00a0moqueries. Certes, elle a conscience de son handicap, mais devoir affronter le regard des autres est une v\u00e9ritable \u00e9preuve.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0<em>Les gens ne se rendaient pas compte que je les entendais. Habile de ses doigts et cr\u00e9ative, on peut dire qu\u2019elle est dou\u00e9e ! Int\u00e9rieurement, elle \u00e9tait persuad\u00e9e que son handicap\u00a0lui fermerait des portes, et qu\u2019elle ne deviendrait jamais coiffeuse. Cependant, un beau jour, elle d\u00e9couvrit qu\u2019elle allait peut-\u00eatre\u00a0changer de vie\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>La jeune fille de 18 ans a entendu parler d\u2019un navire-h\u00f4pital au Cameroun, avec \u00e0 son bord, des chirurgiens b\u00e9n\u00e9voles du monde entier qui pouvaient la soigner. Apr\u00e8s une premi\u00e8re consultation, son op\u00e9ration a \u00e9t\u00e9 programm\u00e9e \u00e0 bord de l\u2019<em><span lang=\"fr\">Africa Mercy<\/span><span lang=\"fr\">\u00ae<\/span><\/em>, au sein du service de\u00a0chirurgie plastique-reconstructrice. Assiatou qui r\u00eavait d\u2019une nouvelle vie pouvait enfin l\u2019envisager.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0<em>C\u2019est une \u00e9tape importante dans ma vie<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9. \u00ab\u00a0<em>Je n\u2019aurais jamais pens\u00e9 que ce jour arriverait<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" ><p>Apr\u00e8s une\u00a0op\u00e9ration r\u00e9ussie\u00a0\u00e0 bord de notre\u00a0navire-h\u00f4pital, Assiatou a d\u00fb faire face \u00e0 plusieurs mois de r\u00e9\u00e9ducation. Certaines s\u00e9ances \u00e9taient plus difficiles que d\u2019autres. Lorsqu\u2019elle perdait courage, elle pouvait compter sur le soutien de nos infirmiers et m\u00e9decins b\u00e9n\u00e9voles.<\/p>\n<p>De jour en jour elle faisait des progr\u00e8s. Par exemple, pendant l\u2019une de ses s\u00e9ances de\u00a0r\u00e9\u00e9ducation, elle s\u2019est pench\u00e9e en avant avec pr\u00e9caution, et est parvenue \u00e0 poser son pied \u00e0 plat sur le sol. Elle s\u2019est rendu compte de ce qui \u00e9tait r\u00e9ellement en train de se passer.<\/p>\n<p>Lorsque sa p\u00e9riode de r\u00e9\u00e9ducation arriva \u00e0 son terme, la jeune femme retrouva tout l\u2019espoir qui lui avait manqu\u00e9 pendant 18 ans. Ce qui est pour nous une banalit\u00e9, a \u00e9t\u00e9 pour Assiatou un merveilleux cadeau : enfiler sa premi\u00e8re\u00a0paire de baskets\u00a0! D\u00e9sormais capable de marcher sans difficult\u00e9, elle se surprend \u00e0 appr\u00e9cier tous\u00a0les petits moments du quotidien\u00a0: faire les courses, se balader avec son fils, ou tout simplement marcher ! Les moqueries et les jugements sont maintenant derri\u00e8re elle, d\u00e9sormais elle a l\u2019impression d\u2019\u00eatre comme les autres.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\"
