Chaque jour, elle se rendait en for\u00eat pour couper des arbres et tisser des nattes \u00e0 partir de leurs branches, qu\u2019elle vendait ensuite pour gagner sa vie. Mais la\u00a0cataracte\u00a0a totalement chamboul\u00e9 son quotidien. Pendant plus de 3 ans, elle a vu sa vision se d\u00e9grader et son autonomie dispara\u00eetre.<\/p>\n<p>Aujourd\u2019hui, la septuag\u00e9naire habite chez l\u2019un de ses enfants, \u00e9tant dans l\u2019incapacit\u00e9 de continuer \u00e0 travailler. Elle passe jour et nuit dans une petite pi\u00e8ce de la maison. Si elle veut manger quelque chose, elle doit attendre que ses enfants ou petits-enfants le lui apportent. Si elle a besoin d\u2019aller aux toilettes, il faut \u00e9galement qu\u2019on l\u2019y conduise. Ensuite, elle a essay\u00e9 des rem\u00e8des traditionnels.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<em>\u00ab Bien qu\u2019ils m\u2019aient aid\u00e9e pendant un certain temps, cela n\u2019a pas suffi ; la situation a empir\u00e9, et j\u2019ai compl\u00e8tement perdu la vue \u00bb<\/em>, dit-elle.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019histoire d\u2019Hounsigbo n\u2019est pas un cas isol\u00e9. En\u00a0Afrique subsaharienne\u00a0en effet, plus de\u00a0six millions\u00a0de personnes sont aveugles \u00e0 cause de la\u00a0cataracte. Avec une simple op\u00e9ration chirurgicale, la plupart d\u2019entre elles pourraient retrouver la vue.<\/p>\n<p>Non loin de chez Hounsigbo, le\u00a0Dr Wodom\u00e9\u00a0dirige une clinique ophtalmologique. L\u00e0-bas, en seulement 7 minutes, il soigne la cataracte. Ce chirurgien n\u2019est pas un faiseur de miracles, mais son \u00e9quipe et lui r\u00e9alisent plus de\u00a0750 op\u00e9rations ophtalmiques par an. Ils permettent \u00e0 des centaines de personnes de retrouver la vue.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s avoir suivi une formation avec notre association il y a 10 ans, il a ouvert sa propre clinique, o\u00f9 il fait tout son possible pour rendre la chirurgie gratuite et accessible au plus grand nombre. Pendant des ann\u00e9es, Mercy Ships a \u00e9t\u00e9 son partenaire et a parrain\u00e9 des\u00a0op\u00e9rations chirurgicales\u00a0dans sa clinique pour des personnes qui n\u2019y auraient pas eu acc\u00e8s autrement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Les yeux grand ouverts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hounsigbo avait entendu parler de la clinique du Dr Wodom\u00e9, mais elle doutait de pouvoir se payer une op\u00e9ration. Heureusement, son petit-fils, Louis, \u00e9tait d\u00e9termin\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019aider, quelle que soit leur situation financi\u00e8re. Un jour, il a demand\u00e9 \u00e0 Hounsigbo de l\u2019accompagner \u00e0 un\u00a0d\u00e9pistage\u00a0que l\u2019\u00e9quipe du Dr Wodom\u00e9 organisait \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 de leur village.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00ab Je ne savais pas o\u00f9 j\u2019allais, mais mon petit-fils m\u2019a dit que je devais venir avec lui. Je lui ai demand\u00e9 : \u00ab Mon fils, as-tu de l\u2019argent ? \u00bb<\/em>\u00a0et il m\u2019a r\u00e9pondu :\u00a0<em>\u00ab Grand-m\u00e8re, allez, suis-moi \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Tr\u00e8s vite, la v\u0153u de Louis a \u00e9t\u00e9 exauc\u00e9. Sa grand-m\u00e8re a appris qu\u2019elle devait se rendre \u00e0 la\u00a0clinique du Dr Wodom\u00e9\u00a0pour se faire op\u00e9rer gratuitement. Avant m\u00eame qu\u2019elle ne r\u00e9alise ce qui se passait, elle entra dans la salle d\u2019op\u00e9ration. C\u2019\u00e9tait un moment plein d\u2019\u00e9motions et de reconnaissance.<\/p>\n<p>Aujourd\u2019hui, Hounsigbo peut voir, elle est redevenue autonome et surtout, elle est \u00e0 nouveau en\u00a0bonne sant\u00e9. Elle est libre de retourner au travail et de reprendre sa place en tant que matriarche de la famille.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0<em>J\u2019ai re\u00e7u la gr\u00e2ce de vivre \u00e0
