Ce chapitre commence avec Amadou, un petit gar\u00e7on de 4 ans du sud du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal, qui a une jambe d\u00e9form\u00e9e en coup de vent et l\u2019autre jambe arqu\u00e9e. Grace a une op\u00e9ration orthop\u00e9dique r\u00e9alis\u00e9e le 6 mars, Amadou a \u00e9t\u00e9 le premier patient \u00e0 b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier d\u2019une intervention chirurgicale \u00e0 bord du nouveau navire.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab Nous nous sommes rendu compte qu\u2019il avait un probl\u00e8me quand il a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 marcher, a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 Mariatou, \u00bb l\u2019aidante d\u2019Amadou. Les diff\u00e9rences sont vraiment devenues apparentes pour Mariatou lorsque Amadou a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 davantage interagir avec ses camarades, en particulier pendant les repas.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ils peuvent tr\u00e8s bien aller manger seuls, sans qu\u2019il n\u2019y ait quelque chose pour s\u2019asseoir, mais pour lui, ce n\u2019est pas possible, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a poursuivi Mariatou. La condition d\u2019Amadou entra\u00eenant une r\u00e9partition in\u00e9gale de son poids, le simple fait de s\u2019asseoir \u00e9tait douloureux pour lui. Une intervention chirurgicale pr\u00e9coce a permis de corriger son \u00e9tat avant que son d\u00e9veloppement ne soit gravement affect\u00e9,<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab \u00c7a va changer la vie d\u2019Amadou et de sa famille, car ils vont maintenant le voir avec une jambe droite. Ils ne conna\u00eetront peut-\u00eatre jamais toutes les cons\u00e9quences de l\u2019op\u00e9ration\u2026 si nous l\u2019avions laiss\u00e9 comme \u00e7a sans agir, sa d\u00e9formation aurait s\u00fbrement empir\u00e9, donc ils ne sauront jamais \u00e0 quel point elle aurait pu s\u2019aggraver si nous n\u2019\u00e9tions pas intervenus,<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span> orthop\u00e9distes p\u00e9diatriques<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, ce qui signifie que pour essayer d\u2019obtenir une telle op\u00e9ration, les patients seraient oblig\u00e9s de se rendre dans un autre pays. Un tel voyage est bien \u00e9videmment hors de prix pour la plupart des gens, et la majorit\u00e9 de ces patients n\u2019auraient donc jamais l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 de b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier d\u2019une op\u00e9ration chirurgicale,<\/span> <span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a ajout\u00e9<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> le Dr Buckingham.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">L\u2019op\u00e9ration d\u2019Amadou est la premi\u00e8re de plus de 40 op\u00e9rations orthop\u00e9diques p\u00e9diatriques pr\u00e9vues ce mois-ci. Au cours des quatre prochains mois, le <\/span><em>Global Mercy<\/em><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> assurera plus de 800 interventions chirurgicales \u00e0 la fois s\u00fbres et gratuites.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Voir des patients \u00e0 bord du navire, c\u2019est un r\u00eave qui devient r\u00e9alit\u00e9, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a confi\u00e9 Evilin Marx, infirmi\u00e8re originaire de l\u2019Afrique du Sud.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pour Evilin, c&rsquo;est un r\u00eave depuis au moins 2015, ann\u00e9e durant laquelle elle a int\u00e9gr\u00e9 le <\/span><em>Global Mercy<\/em><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> en Chine. \u00c0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque, la construction du navire venait de d\u00e9marrer et son mari Renier supervisait l&rsquo;ing\u00e9nierie du projet. Avec leurs enfants, ils ont fait partie de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipage qui a navigu\u00e9 sur le <\/span><em>Global Mercy<\/em><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> en 2021 jusqu\u2019en Europe, o\u00f9 des centaines de b\u00e9n\u00e9voles ont rejoint le navire pour les phases d&rsquo;\u00e9quipement.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class='avia-iframe-wrap'><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Inside: The Global Mercy Hospital is Ready\" width=\"1500\" height=\"844\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/epLzdrnPGeE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Un h\u00f4pital a pris vie, et \u00e7a c&rsquo;est incroyable <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Melody Nido, assistante administrative du service. Cette b\u00e9n\u00e9vole suisse a d&rsquo;abord int\u00e9gr\u00e9 l&rsquo;<em>Africa Mercy\u00ae<\/em> pendant la pand\u00e9mie, puis a servi \u00e0 bord du <\/span><em>Global Mercy<\/em> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">pendant toute la dur\u00e9e de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipement du navire. Jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, la quasi-totalit\u00e9 de son travail s&rsquo;est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;ext\u00e9rieur de l&rsquo;h\u00f4pital, qui n&rsquo;\u00e9tait pas encore pr\u00eat \u00e0 \u00eatre utilis\u00e9. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00c7a fait longtemps que j&rsquo;attendais ce service de terrain ,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a-t-elle expliqu\u00e9 avant de se r\u00e9jouir : <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Je suis vraiment ravie ! <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Pour Melody, le <\/span><em>Global Mercy<\/em> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">est l\u2019aboutissement de trois ans de service au sein de l\u2019organisation. Pour Amadou, le <\/span><em>Global Mercy<\/em><span data-contrast=\"none\"> repr\u00e9sente la fin d\u2019un p\u00e9riple de plus de 600 kilom\u00e8tres qui l\u2019a amen\u00e9, accompagn\u00e9 de Mariatou, d\u2019h\u00f4pital en h\u00f4pital a travers le S\u00e9n\u00e9gal \u2013\u202fet le d\u00e9but d\u2019un nouveau chapitre de sa vie.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Sur le plan chirurgical, le <\/span><em>Global Mercy<\/em><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> prend le relais l\u00e0 o\u00f9 l&rsquo;<\/span><em>Africa Mercy<\/em> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">s&rsquo;est arr\u00eat\u00e9 l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, et termine m\u00eame ce que son navire jumeau a commenc\u00e9 en 2019 lorsqu&rsquo;il a accost\u00e9 \u00e0 Dakar pour la premi\u00e8re fois.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ce qui est formidable, c&rsquo;est que certains de nos patients orthop\u00e9diques [du premier service de terrain au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal] vont revenir,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\"> \u00bb<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Ansley Burnett, chef de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipe orthop\u00e9dique, qui supervise les services qui accueilleront Amadou et les autres patients de la toute premi\u00e8re heure.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Tout est flambant neuf ici, <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> a-t-elle poursuivi. L&rsquo;infirmi\u00e8re am\u00e9ricaine est particuli\u00e8rement satisfaite des lits des patients, car chacun d&rsquo;entre eux est accompagn\u00e9 d&rsquo;un lit suppl\u00e9mentaire pour les aidants comme Mariatou. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00ab <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Tous nos patients orthop\u00e9diques sont des enfants, donc ils viennent tous avec un accompagnateur, c&rsquo;est donc bien d&rsquo;avoir un endroit sp\u00e9cialement pr\u00e9vu pour eux. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00bb<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\"
