Mercy Ships is dedicated to partnering with sub-Saharan Africa, delivering specializing surgery and education, with the mission of strengthening local surgical systems. Currently, 93% of the population in this region cannot access timely, affordable, safe surgical care.

With over 40% of the world’s population living within 100 kilometers of a coast, hospital ships are the most efficient platform to provide this surgery and medical training.

The Mercy Ships crew is made up of hundreds of volunteers from dozens of nations around the world. It takes more than surgeons and nurses – the crew includes deckhands, cooks, AV technicians, teachers, electricians, biomedical technicians, and more.
