The Africa Mercy’s presence in Madagascar is the result of a solid partnership between the Malagasy Government and international organisation Mercy Ships.
The Malagasy Government reaffirms its strong commitment to this strategic partnership, which has been instrumental in transforming the lives of thousands of our fellow citizens by providing free, high-quality surgical care. The planned return of the Africa Mercy in February 2025 embodies not only the ongoing nature of this collaboration, but also the shared vision of a future where every Malagasy has access to modern and affordable health care.
This partnership illustrates our shared determination to strengthen the national health system and meet the needs of the population, in particular of those most vulnerable. The Ministry of Public Health, in collaboration with Mercy Ships, is ensuring that this temporary departure is understood as a necessary step to guarantee the effectiveness and sustainability of operations to come.
The Ministry of Public Health expresses its gratitude to Mercy Ships for their exemplary commitment, and reaffirms its determination to drive this process forward in 2025, for the well-being and health of all Malagasy people.
