May 27: Arrival of the Global Mercy in Dakar
(15:00-16:00 Port of Dakar Berth 13)

The arrival of the Global Mercy is an exciting moment where our two vessels, the Africa Mercy and the Global Mercy, will be together for the first time.

May 30: Dakar Declaration and Inauguration
(11:00-12:15 Global Mercy International Lounge / 12:15-14:00 Africa Mercy Dock)

Heads of state and ministers of health will gather to approve the Dakar Declaration and commit to accelerating access to safe, timely, and affordable surgery in Africa by 2030. This will be followed by a ribbon cutting to inaugurate the Global Mercy. Under the high patronage of His Excellency Mr. Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal, 12 heads of state, representing African nations visited by Mercy Ships in the last 30 years, with their ministers of health, will join our crew, staff, and board members in a dockside ceremony. We will commemorate 30 years of partnership with African nations, transforming lives and building the future of surgical care in Africa together.

June 1: Mercy Ships International Board meeting
(13:00 – 17:00 Global Mercy International Lounge)

June 2 (afternoon): Africa Celebration – Ceremony of Blessing of the Global Mercy
(15:00-18:00 Global Mercy Dock)
During another key moment of the Africa Celebration, the Global Mercy will officially be blessed. The long-awaited ceremony will be held together with Senegalese government representatives, local partners, crew, staff, and international board members. It is important to note that we waited for the Global Mercy to arrive in Africa to celebrate this very special moment, to mark our commitment to our African host nations.

June 2 (evening): Celebration of Hope
(18:00-20:00 Global Mercy Dock)

Finally, the Celebration of Hope is an opportunity to consecrate our newest ship as we double our impact and spread the light of God’s love through our ministry of hope and healing.
